Happy Earth Day 2019 at Panyaden

April 22nd is Earth Day, a great opportunity for Panyaden students, parents and staff to be reminded about what nature gives us.

We celebrated Earth Day 2019 with students and teachers picking up small branches and debris from the storm, showing acceptance of Nature’s temperament and the need for us to take care of the part of Earth we occupy!

At our green school, we believe that connecting to nature when we are young builds the foundation for a lifetime of respect and enjoyment for the earth and the great outdoors.

Panyaden to support Mae Fah Luang Ecotourism Activities

Panyaden recently had the pleasure to welcome villagers and members of the“Roi Jai Rak Project, Mae Fah Luang Foundation Under Royal Patronage” to visit our green school to learn about the Panyaden buildings designed from local natural materials, i.e. bamboo, earth and rocks. The project members intend to adapt the knowhow and sustainable environmental concept to develop their own long term eco-tourism and for the Tha Ton community in Amphur Mae Ai, Chiang Mai Province.

We are honoured to be a part of a sustainable project that will improve the quality of life and career opportunities for the Tha Ton villagers. The village is located in a beautiful area with tourism capability for rafting, hiking, hot spring bathing and demonstration of local traditional living from 8 hill tribes from Northern Thailand.

Green Schools Improve Academic Performance

Green Schools Lead to
Better Academic Achievement – Study

We witness every day at school how a green, natural environment enhances learning. Just as when we ourselves spend a day in the countryside, we see the bright eyes and calm but alert minds of our students. But how come? Building on previous studies on the positive impact of greenery on well-being, researchers are now suggesting that a green environment leads to improved academic achievement among children. Their study shows that students who attend schools with more green space have better working memory and less inattentiveness. They point to the stimulating environment, feeling of being at ease and absorption of air pollutants that are experienced in green spaces as being prime conditions for enhanced attention. Recycled Art

Panyaden School Chiang Mai: recylced art display outside classroom

As Thailand’s first green school, Panyaden encourages its students to find creative ways to recycle, re-use and reduce. Art classes are one great way of practicing these environmentally-friendly habits as shown in the following collages made by our students who recycled used magazines and wrapping paper.
